We’re returning to Cetara, a quaint and quiet seaside village - away from the hustle and bustle of Amalfi and Positano, but still close enough, just a short ferry ride away, if you decide you need that level of stimulation. Join us May 23 - 30, 2026 for our Signature Key to the Castle Workshop program for writers. Reclaim and nurture your creative voice in a supportive environment with the opportunity to explore painting and other meditative practices to keep the creativity flowing, all while taking in the beauty, charms and flavors of Italy's glorious Amalfi Coast. Friends will be made and gelato will be served. Some generative prompts (and maybe even a few very short "summer-ish" excerpts from literature) will be offered and then students will have a chance to write and share.  There will also be time at the end of the session for open discussion about our writing routines, challenges, celebrations and goals. Six Weeks, Six Themes: A Gathering for Generative Writing

Home. Body. Food. Loss. Love. Home, again.

Join us for a six-week generative writing workshop where we will read and write with specific themes in mind and heart. We’ll begin by reading short passages from literature that feature writing on the following: home, the body, loss and love. Zadie Smith, Ben Okri, JoAnn Beard, Laila Lalami, Kiese Laymon, Hala Alyan, Mary Karr and Maya Angelou are just a few of the writers whose work we’ll consider. Then, we will use this material along with writing prompts designed to highlight the week’s topic and we will go to the blank page and write sections of our own. All genres and levels are welcome. This is primarily a generative class with no formal, in class critique process but there will be time to share work within the group as well as schedule one-to-one meetings with instructors, if desired.

Tuesdays: 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25, 3/11, 3/18 (no class March 4th)

ArtsFest Workshops by Key to the Castle Workshop

10/21/2023: Due to the rain, we are postponing Yoga and Bill Papaleo's Artist workshop until 1:00pm. If you were / are planning to come to either or both, please meet in front of NR City Hall, 515 North Avenue at 1:00pm. If we can stay outside we will. If not I have secured space inside City Hall for us. BRING your YOGA MAT and/or ART SUPPLIES. The Writing Workshop is as scheduled at 3:15pm at NRPL.

Saturday, October 21, 2023 – Key to the Castle Workshop is participating in New Rochelle ArtsFest.

These workshops are FREE.

9am-9:45am – Bring your yoga mat for gentle yoga focusing on the chakras for creativity with Angela Derecas Taylor. Front lawn of New Rochelle City Hall - 515 North Ave. In the event of inclement weather, find us inside in the Rotunda.

10am-12:30pm – Visual Artists are invited for an ein plein air workshop with William Papaleo. Bring your easel, paints, canvas or charcoal, pastels, pencils, and sketch pads. Front lawn of New Rochelle City Hall - 515 North Ave. In the event of inclement weather, find us inside in the Rotunda.

3pm-4:30pm – Generative creative writing workshop designed to prompt imagination and storytelling with Kathy Curto and Angela Derecas Taylor. The session will begin with a short meditation and breathing practice to tap into your creative energy. Space is limited to 12 participants. Walk-ins will be accepted on space availability. New Rochelle Public Library, 2nd Floor meeting room
